From 9 to 11 September, the Etnoday 2022 of young people took place in the municipality of Preiles, bringing together young people from folklore communities and local ethnographic ensembles and traditional cultural experts. Young people participated in various workshops and masterpieces for three days, but each interested party was invited to attend Etnoday public events with the participation of the masterclass youth.
Young people who are interested in or want to deepen their knowledge of folklore are traditionally gathering young people Etnoday in autumn. It is an opportunity to learn the various skills and skills of Latvian folklore, with particular attention to musicisation. This year, the masters took place in Riebins, Vecvalkava and Aglona. This time the traditional culture and cultural heritage of South Latgale were highlighted.
In the event of the event, a public event was held for three evenings in the municipality of Preiles, which was available free of charge to any interested party. 9 September at 21.00 The Riebinu Cultural House held a dancing evening “Eu with sou crystamitti”, while on 10 September at 20.00 Everyone was invited to join “Vescherinka” with the chapel “August” at the Old Valve School. At the end of the masters classes on 11 September at 15.30 There was a concert in the Aglona cultural house, in which the participants of Etnoday presented to visitors who were studying.
Latvian National Cultural Centre folklore and People's music expert Lauma birch emphasize: “The aim of the ethnoday is the promotion of traditional cultural values in a more modern form and in a broader audience. Every parish and village have something only to him, so Etnoday gives young people a chance to meet not only among themselves but also with the heirs of local traditions. This gives you a look at something that reflects more clearly on yourself and the music you play.”
