Traditional singing enthusiasts and interestingly invited to participate in professional development courses “traditional singing school Drabey 2023”, which are organised for a third time. This year they will be held from 10 to 13 August in the Drabee Manor (Cēsis District).
Courses are intended to explore the various aspects of traditional singing, the acquisition of practical skills and the exchange of experience. A great opportunity to sing, learn traditional forms of multilingualism and the specifics of the unanimous songs, learn your voice in the context of traditional singing.
Traditional singing lessons and lectures will be guided by:
- Zane Smite ethnouzicologist. Lesson topic: sound, breathing, vocal technique.
- Dace Pruce - Ffolklore researcher, traditional singing teacher. Subject matter: the diversity of traditional singing in Latvia, myths and reality. Techniques and communication. The use of singing in life, play and movement.
- Indra Meter – a singer. The subject of lesson: Abrenes county songs in the historic dialect manners without the layers of latgalian development of the last years. North Latgale Song Repertoire. Breathlessness exercises.
- Iveta tāle - Ffolklore researcher, leader of the traditional musical group “Krace”. Subject: Latvian outdoor singing tradition, spring decoration in Celia. History of the discovery of traditions and modern practice.
- Sirkka Kosonen. Subject: Traditional singing in Finland.
- Sára Bolyki, singer, directed by international singing masters. Subject: Hungarian traditional singing.
Course fee for participants – approximately EUR 100 (the amount will be adjusted after receipt of applications).
