We invite to the seminar “Latvian folk suit and urban clothing – research, finishing, making”. The seminar will be held at the Limbazi Culture House on October 27, 2023 at 10.00.
Topics to be discussed in the seminar:
* Folk suit and city-type clothing in Latvia in the 19 th/20 th century. Annette Karlsone, researcher in the ethnology department of the Latvian Institute of History of LU;
* Experience in making outfits. Dagnija Kupsche, Head of the Weverisha weaving Workshop;
* Research and experience of brunch fabrics. Aija Malkalns, SIA “Austras Scriptures”;
* The story of Midsmouth Annuja. Iveta Seimanova, association “ethnographic Embassy of Latgale”;
* TLMS 'chilly' research work and experience in making taut and costume. The limbs on their way to Song Festival. Baiba Vaivars, head of TLMS “chilly” and members of the studio.

Participation in the seminar free of charge. A recording of the seminar will be available on THE LNKC's YouTube channel.
In parallel with the seminar, the Limbazi Culture House will see an exhibition of the costumes made by the Folk applied Art Studio “dzilna”, as well as a book table, where it will be possible to purchase expenditures for Latvian folk costumes and their making.
The seminar takes place within the framework of the LNKC project “Everyone's national costumes” and is as an addition to the XXVII General Latvian Song and XVII Dance Celebration folk costumes.
