The National Centre for Culture of Latvia shall announce the acceptance of 2025 applications for the national Intangible cultural Heritage (NKM) List. Everyone is invited to submit to the list elements that constitute State protected intangible cultural heritage assets and whose listing has extensive Community support and participation.
Applications may be submitted by 8 June of this year. They will be assessed by the intangible cultural Heritage Council, with experts invited.
The login process is carried out electronically on the web site www.nematerialakultura.lv. It is also possible to become acquainted with the values already included in THE LIST of OMC, as well as to view industry documents. The content of the website is regularly supplemented with up-to-date information IN THE field of defence and development of THE OMC. Latvia's national Intangible cultural Heritage List has been established since 2017 and currently includes 40 values. They include many traditions of folk singing and music, many skills of craftsmanship, various – Barta, River, Piebalgs, Lib, etc. – cultural premises, knowledge of special positions, such as catching and processing of Carnikava lampreys and the craft skills of the Gauja rafters, as well as such a Latvian lifestyle part – collection and use of mushrooms.
