on December 16 at 12.00-17.00 the national Library of Latvia will host a day of counties, which will take place this year in cooperation with the Libyan Institute of the University of Latvia and is dedicated to the Libyans. On Lybian day, which is the final event of the year of Libyan Heritage, it will be possible to meet both Lybian heritage collectors and members of the year of Libyan Heritage – associations, municipalities and businessmen from all Lybian historically populated regions.
On Lib day, LNB will be able to listen to the sound of Livonian in the performance of various musical groups, participate in presentations of the latest books and plans, purchase Christmas gifts based on Livonian heritage – from jewellery and knitting to books and souvenirs, as well as enjoy some Livonian snack.
It will also be possible for each visitor to learn about the legacy of Livians and related initiatives in Ventspils, Tulsa, Sigulda, Limbazi, Aizkraukles and elsewhere, as well as to exchange ideas and plans for further work.
A series of Livonian musical associations will also take to the stage at the event:
* at 12.30 Livonian ensembles “Livlist” (Riga), “Kandla” (Targale), “Randalist” (Ventspils);
* at 14.30 “Birds” (Ledurga), “Karikste” (Aizkraukle) and Revelle (Tallinn);
* 16:00 the mixed chorus “Lōja” (Salaspils).
A number of events will also take place on stage and there will be an audible soundtrack in the composition of Monta Kvyatkovsk in between.
* at 14.00 the expenditure generated during the Libyan Heritage year will be presented.
* at 15.40 the collection of poetry by the publishing house “Neputns” “Libyan ballads” in Latvian and Lebanese will be opened.
* at 16.30 the event will be concluded by the LU Libyan Institute and SIA “Jana seta”, presenting the web map service in Liv, which will be available on the platform balticmaps.eu.
The LU Libyan Institute, in cooperation with the UNESCO national Commission of Latvia and the national cultural Centre of Latvia, has declared 2023 the year of Libyan heritage. Its purpose is to draw attention to the liberal roots of Latvia. The year takes the form of a set of separate measures and initiatives, the identification and pooling of which is carried out in a joint cycle by the LU Libyan Institute.
The national Library of Latvia organises a county day each year, during which the rich and living heritage of the counties of Latvia is presented. This year, in the context of the Libyan Heritage year, the county day is dedicated to the liberal roots of the Latvian counties and the legacy of the Libians still visible therein.
With Libyan day at the national Library of Latvia, the LU Libyan Institute looks back symbolically and also celebrates its 5 years of existence.
